RICHARD ALVAREZ   Images  CV   Press   Using the non-traditional media of acrylic and glitter on glass, Alvarez recreates female archetypes in a distinctly contemporary manner. Unlike the subdued and static representations of the Virgin Mary in early Christian art, Alvarez’s icons are rapturous, charged with an energy that is both sexualized and transcendental.
