April 21 – May 20, 2007: Moses Hoskins, New Works on Canvas and Paper

SAG HARBOR, APRIL 10, 2007 — Karin Sanders Fine Art opens the 2007 season with “Moses Hoskins: New Works on Canvas and Paper,” a solo exhibition featuring approximately 10 works by this celebrated abstract painter and collagist. An opening reception will take place on April 21st from 5-7PM. The exhibition runs through May 20, 2007.

Moses Hoskins has become an artist to watch. A two time Pollack-Krasner Foundation grant recipient, Hoskins’ work will cover a wall at O.K. Harris in SoHo this summer and continues to exhibit regularly at Karin Sanders Fine Art in Sag Harbor.  The artist has also recently received the esteemed Adolph and Esther Gottleib foundation grant.

Hoskins’ mixed media canvases and paper works continue to surprise us with found materials and scrap paint.  Hoskins’ latest works exhibit a bolder application of color and a continued commitment to the unexpected application of random media. Vibrant hues of pink, orange, blue, and green characterize these recent works, which differ from the more subdued tones of Hoskins’ earlier pieces.  The canvas and paper works on view will include the artist's signature use of delicate line, transparent layering of paint, surprise shapes and bold strokes that form compositions which can truly be declared art for art's sake.

“Moses Hoskins is an artist who has received a tremendous amount of attention by the art community recently, despite existing completely outside of it. I am very excited to exhibit this daring new work.” Says gallery owner, Karin Sanders.
