PAUL ICKOVIC
Images Bio Press
Working in the classic style of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Brassai, Paul Ickovic's images are captive moments. Describing what he calls a "critical distance" Ickovic is close enough to his subject to be noticed, but also maintains the eye of a voyeur - recording transitory moments that are never staged or cropped. He tells much of his own story through the cities and people he photographs; a narrative with which the viewer can engage and relate.
"Mr Ickovic is a wonderfully old-style photographer in the tradition of Henri Cartier Bresson, Brassai and others on the spot at the "decisive moment." His images are not staged, cropped or otherwise manipulated; he shoots what's there. the conjunction of these two factors seems as much a matter of "eye" as intuition." - Grace Glueck, New York Times
Paul Ickovic’s photographs are included in many prestigious collections including the Museum of Modern Art and International Center of Photography in New York, the Biblioteque Nationale in Paris, and the National Gallery in Prague.
Mr. Ickovic is presently working on his Havana Portfolio which is in limited production. For information, please contact us at info@karinsanders.com
