Paul Ickovic On Women
Karin Sanders Fine Art is proud to announce a gallery wide exhibition of works by Czech photographer Paul Ickovic. Working in the classic style of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Brassai, Ickovic here addresses an all too familiar subject – Women. A self proclaimed romantic, Ickovic’s Women are in many ways autobiographical. He tells much of his own story through that of the women he’s photographed.

"The Nature of Art"
Challenging expectations regarding depictions of the natural world, the Nature of Art group exhibition offers a unique perspective on the oft overlooked yet familiar milieu of our surroundings. Themes in the show include water, sky, botanicals, trees, birds and farm animals, and even the microcosmic environment of insects. The transience of nature is explored while at times it seems contained within the artworks themselves. Through a variety of media, which include paint on canvas, photography and sculpture, the outside is brought inside in an extraordinary display of works by 10 different artists.

New Works on Canvas and Paper
Karin Sanders Fine Art is proud to announce the exhibition in Gallery 1 of new and recent works by this two time recipient of the Pollock-Krasner foundation grant. Hoskins latest works exhibit a bolder application of color and a continued commitment to the unexpected application of random media. These latest canvas and paper works include the artist's signature use of delicate line, transparent layering of paint, surprise shapes and bold strokes that form compositions which can truly be declared art for art's sake.

Works from the Compass Series
Polewatch IV, 2003
Oil, charcoal and oil sticks on canvas, 72 x 66 inches
Acclaimed British action painter, Day Bowman emphasizes the physical aspects of art-making. Working from large plastic pots of paint, Bowman drips, drags, pushes, pulls, and scrapes pigments across the canvas in a performance that is reminiscent of Pollock. The resulting images are emotive maelstroms of swirling colors that have been resolved into aesthetic harmony. They elicit a sense of play combined with a seriousness that is unique and striking.
The exhibition will feature approximately 17 large and small canvases from Bowman’s Compass Series, a body of work that recently finished a tour of the United Kingdom. This series explores themes of becoming lost and finding direction, of enduring tragedy and achieving regeneration through the curative activity of play.

Emil Alzamora's sculptural works and drawings will be on view July 1 thru August 19. Alzamora explores the human form often exaggerating and distorting in the effort to reveal various emotional and physical states of being. His figures reveal instantaneous moments in time, displaying the interaction of the physical and the fleeting. Exploring the space between limitation and potential, is to Alzamora 'as human as the flesh.'
